How to Apply

Program Eligibility

  • Current UC Davis undergraduate student in good academic standing
  • Science, technology, mathematics or engineering major
  • Educationally and/or economically disadvantaged
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at time of application submission and must be maintained throughout participation in program if selected
  • Interested in research (note: you do not have to have previous research experience to apply to this program)
  • Seasoned UC Davis sophomore or rising junior standing (transfer students currently at UC Davis are encouraged to apply). Since this is a two-year program, UC LEADS scholars will need to be available to spend one summer performing research at UC Davis and then a second summer performing research at another UC campus.
  • Obtain a doctoral degree in the UC system

    • Family information
    • Financial/tax information
    • Educational information
    • Official transcripts *applies only to transfer students
    • Statement of purpose
    • Letters of recommendation (two required)
      • one must be from faculty/professor/lecturer 
      • other can be from program director, coordinator, advisor, mentor. etc.
      • if unable to provide required letter from faculty due to impact of remote learning as a result of COVID-19, please contact program staff
